• Uhhh, ACKCHYUALLY: Marx didn't want communism to start in an industrialized nation: He was making a positive claim that revolution was most likely to happen in an industrialized nation because industrialization brought about the divide of society into workers and bosses (proletariat and bourgeoisie).

It never waited to be industrialized enough to become a Communist regime. And when it started becoming industrialized, it faded away from Communism and became a weird mix of Authoritarian regime with Colonialist Economic Model.

• I think the bigger gripe he'd have is people thinking socialism can be achieved simply through control of the state.
• I’ll never forget a friend of mine from Highschool a few years ago who brought Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto to school to read during AP US government.
  Before you “yikes”, she was also transitioning from male to female in the middle of the Bible Belt in an area where you could easily be killed just for coming out. She was also very pro Socialism in a very redneck class room.
  Weird part though was that she constantly said she was a Marxist but when ever I brought up what Marx was actually trying to do she would say that I was wrong and lectured me on (Lenin’s) communism despite them being very different things.
  In the end she just called me “fascist” in different languages and I called her “Putin’s cumslut” or the “Mao ze dongsucker”.
  She was cool, we got along pretty well and I helped her transition in a community that was very half and half on acceptance.
